This is THE YEAR!!

As we enter 2009 I pray this will be the year Mommy's 4 LIFE is able to get up and running and start helping the many families in need. I just know this is going to be a blessed year in many aspects!! As my family expands (New baby girl due Feb 12th) I am striving to really focus on both my family as well as my projects for the year. With the Lord's light as my guide I know THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT YEAR!!

Wow! Time sure does fly!!! It has been a couple of months since my last post. As I am still waiting for my 501C approval, I have continued to spread the word and have recieved great positive feedback. I am very excited and can not wait to recieve my 501 approval so that I can finally "get started" helping these families in desperate need!! I will continue to press forward and continue knocking, as I know the right doors will open!

As we move forward in the things that we are going to 'do', the plans that we
have laid out and the goals that we have and will set may we not forget to 'be'.

What are you? Has your character been developed to the level that it meets up
with where you have set our sights? May you not make the mistake of assuming
God's presence in the progression of your goals with out the progression of
clean hands and a pure heart.
You must give careful attention in adding to our faith so that you are not
ineffective and unproductive. It is not great talents God blesses so much but
likeness to Jesus. If you are moving forward with spiritual plans, but missing
the heart you will 'be' less like Christ resulting in the idol of performing
like Christ, only increasing your false self. Speak truth to your heart...in
doing so you must know and be aware of yourself, you must know what you are
called to do by God, you must love instruction and you must love the Word... you
will then overcome your old self and walk in who you are in Christ.

May we make every opportunity to remind ourselves how much we need the
Lord...there is nothing like spiritual and physical disciplines.

NEW GOALS

A new week - new goals. The past few weeks have been very busy!! I have heard back from the Ronald McDonald House - possibly becoming a sponsor to Mommy's 4 LIFE, which is REALLY exciting!!! I am also finalizing my logo, as well as working on my website. Aside from Mommy's 4 LIFE I am working on my medical mission to Haiti, hopefully the first week of August!
Goals for the week:

Continue research on research programs/funding for Mommy's 4 LIFE
Finalize LOGO
Confirm Haiti trip

Life can become hectic and sometimes throw us curve balls - I am determined to keep focused and keep on keeping on! I know doing the right thing will result in the right results!!

On the Move - CHARITY BAKE SALE

Over the weekend we were very busy! Along with our neighbor, the kids had a charity bake sale - proceeds went to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. This was a great experience for the kids, they were able to bake - which they loved, as well as learn a great lesson - hard work pays off!! The bake sale was a huge success, and best of all they learned the power of postive work because they are going to actually go to the hospital together and deliver the charity check, this way they can see who they are actually helping!!
We had a great time - and I am so proud of the kids! JOB WELL DONE!

Just as a side note, I have received positive feed back from friends and family regarding this organization. The point of my blogspot is to try to get Mommy's 4 LIFE out there, so I can help as many people as possible. When you read this, if you feel it in your heart, please pass this site on to your friends and family. Hopefully, this will spread to people that can either help (possible sponsors) or people that may need this organization for their own personal help. One Step At A Time

Well, now that I have expressed my goal, it is time to make the steps toward accomplishing this goal. While I am awaiting my tax 501c approval, I would like to line up as much as I can. I am in the process of searching for a grant writing class (if anyone reads this and knows can give any tips, they would be appreciated!). I am also researching other forms of ways to raise money for my foundation. I am also searching for my logo and preparing to start creating my website. I have had several children over the past several weeks that could really benefit from this organization. It saddens me to see these families, first of all going thru this experience, but to have this financial burden on top is just terrible. I just want to go up to them and say, here, I can help!! I can't wait for that moment!! I am also hoping to expand Mommy's 4 LIFE by having childcare facilities that will provide complimentary service to these families during this crucial time as well. I know the Lord will lead me to the hearts of those willing to help and contribute their services to help these desperate families.

Remember we all need a helping hand at some point or another!

Mommy's 4 LIFE - The Beginning

Imagine you are out with your children one day at the park and you notice your toddler seems to be walking strange....a bit unbalanced. This seeming a bit unusual you take the child to the emergency room. Upon your arrival to the ER your child is examined and undergoes a few diagnostic x-rays. After several hours, your anxiety rising, the doctor comes in with life changing news.........a brain tumor was detected on the x-ray. With his one sentence your world has just been shook....your child? Impossible?!

This was what happened to a 2 year old boy I had on my unit. This boy - a normal two year old up until that day, or so they thought, was now in store for a new world. His mother stayed at his bedside every day for a complete week, even showering in the shower on our unit while he was sleeping. As I came into work on a Sunday evening (he had been there 1 week 2 days) his mommy came to me with tears in her eyes and said she was going to have to leave her son that night, because she has to go to work the next day. She had another child - the loss of her income was going to put her in a situation where she may not be able to provide for her other child. As much as it was killing her to leave him, she had to go. She left my unit at 11:30 pm, crying the whole way out. At 1:30 am I noticed she was back - I asked her why she was back and she said she just wanted to peek in on him to make sure he was OK. I couldn’t believe she drove all the way back to the hospital just to peek in his room - it broke my heart. Then again at 5:00 am she was back - she sat next to his bed holding his hand until she had to leave for work at 8:00 am.

I drove home that morning with this heavy on my heart. I just could not imagine being put in this position - I understand - but I can not imagine. It is heart wrenching. This sat with me for a while - I researched to see if there were any programs to help families in this situation. I found nothing. From that point I feel the Lord placed it in my heart to start something.

This is how and why I started Mommy's for LIFE - a non-profit organization that will help these families in their greatest time of need. It will help the mommy's get their child back to LIFE - back to LIVING LIFE to the fullest. The child needs their parent there with them in the hospital - they are sick and scared. No parent should be put in this position. My goal is to help these families in the immediate weeks following their accident/diagnosis. Just supplementing their income, or a portion of their income for the initial weeks will at least give them the time to get organized and get family or friends lined up to help them on this journey.

I know with the Lords help I will get this going and be able to do His works!
